In the winter of 1989, after participating in Laura Branigan's 'Self Control'
tour Terry received a phone call from a booking agent asking him to fill in
for two weeks
for a piano player who had gone on vacation. The gig was
on a cruise ship that was located
in Miami, Florida.Terry was curious and
decided that he would go. That decision would
ultimately alter his career.
But even more important than that, his decision would change his
Upon arrival in Miami, Terry boarded the MS Caribe
and within the hour
was introduced to a young british entertainer who was starring in the
production show onboard. Her name was Patricia Lee. Six months later
they were engaged.
They eloped to Scotland and recently celebrated their
21st wedding anniversary. Shortly after
their engagement they, along with
the ship's orchestra leader, Frederic Boyle, formed a
jazz vocal trio and
named it TRIAD.
They secured a contract with the Opryland Hotel
in Nashville, Tennessee. In 1994 they released
their first album,
Terry's Tavern, on the Artifex jazz label.
